being crafty

Even before my resolution to get things done, I was making quite a few gifts last month. First there was the need to finally get my brother’s birthday gift package done. (A gift in December for a birthday in September just prolongs the celebration, right?) I made him a BBQ apron complete with crooked sewing, a scrap paper jotbook with elastic closure:

and a vintage tie keychain:

He works in a computery websitey tech office so he doesn’t wear ties, which of course makes me think he should have a tie for his keys instead.

Then there was Christmas. My family decided not to exchange gifts which was a huge reliever of stress, guilt, and cash. The one exception was that I could make something for everyone. I made a succulent terrarium for my mom, a fleece blanket for the younger brother, drafting weights for my dad, and this for my expected niece:

A (satin lined!) pink stocking with silky “fur” cuff and a cute little pink vintage button on the loop.  Making our niece’s first stocking was Mr. Man’s fabulous idea.

I could get the hang of this sewing thing.

Ooh, I love that scrap paper book. You should sell those, I’d buy one!
